This past weekend my girlfriend and I celebrated our anniversary. We decided to go on a short trip to Silver City to explore the Gila National Forest. You’ll see a post soon about our adventure. Our thing to get a little weekend vacation in to go to a town and stay at a local hotel and eat at local restaurants to make for an authentic experience during our visit. We googled some good hotels and we like to get suggestions from the hotel workers on place to eat. For the hotel, we stayed at the Murray Hotel.

The hotel was clean in appearance and the service from the front desk was fantastic. The room we stayed in had one queen bed. The bathroom was smaller and the tv was older with limited channels. Simple is a perfect descriptive word, which is just what we needed.

We were starving when we arrive to the hotel and asked if there any great local places to eat. The hotel desk attendant suggested we check out Little Toad Creek brewery. It was a block from the hotel so it was perfect. We checked in and then walked straight there.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a great server who was super friendly. Since we had never been there or heard of the brewery before we wanted to taste as many beers as we could. We ordered the six 5 oz flight which to sample a little bit of everything. Our flight of beers had their seasonal IPA, Blonde Ale, Pale Ale, Copper Ale, NM Brown Ale, and their Porter. My personal favorites were the Brown Ale and the Porter.

The brewery also functions as a restaurant as well. My girlfriend ordered their signature Silver City Burger and I ordered the Portabella Mushroom Sandwich. You can add bacon and green chile to all of their burgers and sandwiches which was awesome. Both food items were perfect and really hit the spot.
